Choosing the right toothbrush is really important and we are often asked ‘Which one should I go for?’. Well the good news is that there’s a huge selection of brushes, many of which will do a great job, but there are a few features to watch out for.
Small brush head – if the head of the brush is large it will be difficult to get it to all areas of your mouth, so go for the smallest size you see.
Medium bristles – not too hard, not too soft, go middle-of-the-road for this.
Electric brushes – we are big fans of electric brushes for so many reasons. The Oral B brushes have small heads and their oscillating action helps compensate for any poor technique. The SoniCare brushes are good too, but tend to have a slightly larger brush head. As ever, you get what you pay for and we’d always suggest spending as much as you feel comfortable with on an electric brush. Avoid battery powered brushes as they lose power quickly – stick to rechargeable ones.
What about for kids? Electric brushes are good for kids too – try one with a timer and see if they can brush for the full 2 minutes! There are lots of gimmicks and fun designs for kids’ brushes – anything that keeps them interested is good, but still try and stick to our basic guide for their brush too. Try and find an age-appropriate brush if you can.
As ever, we are here to help so if you’re not sure then call in and speak to our reception team. We stock a good range of suitable brushes at Coppice View and we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
