If you have one, two or more teeth missing in a row and would like them replaced, there are several options available to you.
On our Dental implants page, you will find details about realistic, permanent replacements for one or more missing teeth. A further alternative is a bridge, which we can also help with. Here, we consider dentures – removable false teeth made of acrylic (plastic), nylon or metal. They fit precisely over your gums to replace missing teeth and eliminate potential problems caused by gaps. If all your teeth need to be removed or replaced dentures can offer a cost-effective option.
Dentures can help prevent problems with eating and speech and may also improve the appearance of your smile and give you confidence.
How dentures are fitted
Depending on how many teeth are missing, we can fit a full set of dentures to replace all your teeth or a partial set if you have teeth that are still strong. After the teeth have been removed, we will take impressions to ensure a good fit. Your dentures can be ready in under a week but when you’re able to use them will depend on whether your gums need to heal first. It’s worth noting that with age, your gums may shrink or change shape, meaning you’ll have to have the dentures relined or remade.
Which treatment is best for me?
We will discuss with you which is the most suitable alternative to replace your missing tooth or teeth and restore your smile. This decision will usually depend on:
- which option best suits your mouth and lifestyle
- the number of teeth that are missing
- your budget
